Contractor Beware

Terms of service

Last updated: 2026-08-04

Contractor Beware (“Service”) is a peer experience network for professional contractors. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these terms.

1. Who may use it

The Service is for contractors and trade professionals. You must provide accurate business and license information. We may suspend accounts that misrepresent identity or trade status. Checking addresses and submitting reports require an active paid membership (or explicit complimentary access). Free open reporting is not offered — it would invite fabricated experiences.

2. Not legal advice or credit reporting

Reports and check results are contractor experiences and opinions, not court findings, consumer credit reports, or guarantees about any person or property. They are intended to help you prepare (for example written agreements, deposits, and documentation) — not to dictate that you refuse work. You use them at your own judgment. Empty history is normal while the network grows.

3. Subscriptions and credits

Paid plans are billed monthly via Stripe unless you have complimentary access. There is no free credit grant at signup. Subscribers receive 10 address checks per month; accepted reports earn additional checks. A check costs a credit only when peer reports exist for that address; empty results do not consume a credit.

While founding memberships are open, new paid subscribers may join at $9.99/month. The listed standard rate is $29.99/month for later new subscribers. Founding members keep their Stripe price for as long as they remain continuously subscribed.

Subscriptions renew until canceled. You can cancel or update payment methods through the billing portal on your account. Unless required by law, unused credits and partial periods are not refunded when you cancel.

4. Your reports

You must only report addresses you bid or worked. Content must be truthful to the best of your knowledge. No personal attacks, doxxing, or fabricated claims. We may remove content, withhold credits, or ban accounts for abuse.

5. Acceptable use

Do not scrape the Service, resell bulk data, harass individuals, or use the product as a public blacklist or “dirt directory.” Address-first peer experience for legitimate trade work only.

6. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS.” We do not warrant completeness or accuracy of peer reports. To the fullest extent allowed by law, we are not liable for decisions you make based on the Service or for indirect or consequential damages.

7. Contact

Questions about these terms: use the email on your account correspondence or the contact method listed on the site when available.

This page is a practical starter agreement for early access — not a substitute for formal legal review before broad public launch.
